Boat and Jet Ski License Courses

Price: $150 per course if doing a Boat (RMDL) or Jet Ski (PWC) course individually. Combined Boat and Jet Ski course is $250. All include online study materials.

Course information
During your BoatSafe course you will complete the required assessments as set by Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, these assessments include both a theory exam of 50 multiple choice questions and a comprehensive practical examination.
During you course at Sunreef you will need the following items

If you are completing the PWC portion it is recommended you have the following

Change of clothes
These are recommended as you are likely to get a bit wet from the spray. Throughout the day you will transition between the classroom, our private pontoon and on board our training vessels both in and out of the shade as well.
Course requirements and training
During this course it is a requirement as listed by Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads that you can complete the theoretical exam to 100% correct, our trainers will assist you in this exam but cannot give you any of the answers. You are required to complete all the practical components as required by TMR and must be able to master these skills to a level verified by the trainer.
If our trainer believes you are unable to meet these standards you have the following options: Pay an additional fee for 1 on 1 training for the trainer to complete the course with you at your pace. This fee is dependent on the level of completion from your first day
Receive a partial refund for the components not completed. This is at the discretion of Sunreef Management Staff.
What you can expect
Check in at Sunreef starts at the time outlined on your confirmation email or text. The time frames below may alter. We only take a maximum of 4 people on each course.
Boat (RMDL) only
0900 You’ll arrive at Sunreef and head to our specialised training room to begin paperwork
0945 Head down to our specialty training vessel and we will begin briefing on the vessel
1030 Depart wharf and begin practical training
1200 Arrive back at dock
Jet Ski (PWC) only
1115 Customer start and begin paperwork
1215 First person on jet ski roughly 10 minutes each to begin with
1230 Depart wharf to mangroves for at speed training
1430 Arrive wharf final paperwork and depart
Combined Boat and Jet Ski
0900 You’ll arrive at Sunreef and head to our specialised training room to begin paperwork
0945 Head down to our specialty training vessel and we will begin briefing on the vessel
1030 Depart wharf and begin practical training
1200 Arrive back at dock, break while we set up the jet skis
1215 First person on jet ski roughly 10 minutes each to begin with
1230 Depart wharf to mangroves for at speed training
1430 Arrive wharf final paperwork and depart
Students please read the following
To enroll in a BoatSafe course you must be 16 years old or older and hold a valid Queensland driver’s license.
Prerequisite: A valid Queensland driver’s license for the Boat (RMDL) License. A valid Boat (RMDL) License for the Jet Ski (PWC) Licence.
Required forms: Each student must complete the appropriate waivers before starting this course with us. For the Boat (RMDL) Course click this link for your waiver. For the Jet Ski (PWC) Course click this link for your waiver. They will also be sent out to you with your booking confirmation.
Course confirmations: The course dive will depend on the sea conditions and weather. We will monitor this closely and if the weather or sea conditions are unsuitable, we will let you know as soon as we can. We will send out an email and text message the day before your trip around 3:30 pm to inform you of the status of the trip and its departure time.
Parking: The Wharf complex has all day parking available, however please keep in mind especially if you are on an 11:30 am or later trip that parking can sometimes get very busy. Please give yourself at least 15-20 minutes for parking. We recommend that you park your vehicle in the Sea Life (Underwater World) car park at The Wharf Mooloolaba, 123 Parkyn Parade.
